method manMethod Man, a Grammy-winning artist and founder of the group Wu-Tang Clan, was arrested on Monday for tax evasion. He apparently owes Uncle Sam about $32,799.

Method Man (A.K.A. Clifford Smith) stands accused of not paying New York State income taxes between 2004 and 2007. He could be looking at up to four years in prison the charges stick.

“Taxes are a burden that all citizens share in a civil society, whether you are an ‘average Joe’ on the street or a high-profile rap artist,” said Staten Island District Attorney Daniel Donovan.

The divorced father of four, 38, had his Lincoln Navigator repossessed back in 2008 for falling $52,503 in arrears.

In 2007, he was busted for marijuana possession and driving under the influence.

Method Man has blamed the ordeal on his marijuana consumption.

“Myself, I’m a pothead,” he said back in March. “It’s no secret. Everyone knows that. I go on the road and forget everything else.”
