Wednesday morning on the Today Show, Matt Lauer interviewed Meredith Baxter, the woman who played the great American mom on Family Ties.
He immediately asked her to “reveal something about herself.” Wait for it...
The camera zoomed in on an uncomfortable Baxter who then revealed that, after three marriages (and five kids), she has come to realize that she is a lesbian.
Baxter said she lives a “very out” life in L.A., is happily committed to a general contractor named Nancy Locke and recently went on a cruise with about 1,200 other lesbian women. I bet that was a fun cruise.
Baxter says that she wanted to go on television and break the news in her “own words” before a tabloid that had picked up the story beat her to the punch.
I can just hear Alex P. Keaton now confronting his mom about this shocker.
