Mark and Cindy Hill won $293,750,000 in Wednesday night’s record-setting Powerball drawing. The owner of the only other winning ticket, which was sold in Arizona, has yet to come forward.
The Hills appears at a press conference today with their daughter, Jaiden, who was adopted from China. The couple was handed an oversized check made out for $293,750,000.
“We’re still stunned by what’s happened. It’s surreal and people keep asking us, ‘What are you going to buy with it?’ I just want to go home and be back to normal,” said Cindy Hill, 51, at today’s press conference.
The Hills have three adult sons and Jaiden, their adopted daughter.
So will they be getting that pony?
“The pony’s not going to be for a while,” Cindy said. “I think we’re going to just stick with what we have planned, and maybe after the first year, go on a big vacation.”
Given that the odds of winning the jackpot were 1 in 175 million, the Hills said they hardly thought they stood a chance.
“I was just telling my daughter the night before, ‘Honey, that probably never happens (people winning),'” Cindy said.
