The bad blood between Maureen McCormick and Eve Plumb has caused the cancellation of a Brady Bunch reunion appearance. McCormick played the oldest sister, Marcia Brady, on the show while Plumb played middle sister Jan.
The pair were going to make an appearance on a popular network morning show this coming Wednesday, but the interview has now been called off.
“The problems between them go back decades,” says a source. “They’ve never liked each other…the bottom line is that they didn’t want to be on the same show and the appearance was cancelled because of it.”
So what’s all the fuss about? The problems arose from the wording in McCormick’s autobiography, “Here’s the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice“. In that book, she seems to hint that she had a lesbian relationship with Plumb.
On the Today show in 2008, however, she said that the comment, in which she says she kissed Plumb, was taken out of context by Plumb and by the media.
McCormick explained that she kisses all her friends and co-workers, male and female, out of affection.
Plumb has accused McCormick of making the story up so she could sell more books.
McCormick has tried to reach out to Plumb “to tell her what happened, but unfortunately, this was one of the things that stopped our relationship. There were also other things, but this was a big factor. It’s sad, because she was my best friend. We went through a lot together.”
Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!
