Big trouble today for Epsilon, the world’s largest permission-based email marketing company. The company has confirmed that it suffered a breach in security on Friday and the list of companies that were affected is growing larger and larger.
TiVo users were among the first to be alerted that the email address they’d used to register for the service had been compromised.
Epsilon is now revealing that even more companies were affected by the breach. Here’s a partial list so far:
- Kroger
- TiVo
- US Bank
- JPMorgan Chase
- Capital One
- Citi
- McKinsey & Company
- Ritz-Carlton Rewards
- Marriott Rewards
- New York & Company
- Brookstone
- Walgreens
- The College Board
- Home Shopping Network (HSN)
- L.L. Bean
- Disney Destinations
- Barclays Bank of Delaware
TiVo attempted to smooth things over by announcing that the personal data that was compromised was limited to “first name and/or email addresses only.”
Here’s the email TiVo sent out to its customers:
Other companies like Citi, Ritz-Carlton Rewards, and Marriott Rewards have also warned their userbases, but, given that Epsilon sends over 40 billion emails each year, the list of companies affected is bound to keep on growing.
