The New Year off to a great start for our favorite diva, Mariah Carey. At the 2010 People’s Choice Awards last night, the singer and actress won the award for Best R&B Artist.

Carey arrived at the awards ceremony dressed in a sexy white gown with husband Nick Cannon.

However, when she was called to the stage to accept her award, she barely avoided a major wardrobe malfunction.

Carey gathered her super-long dress in her hands, but appeared to have some difficulty walking in it. Cannon exchanged worried looks with his wife and stood to help Carey on stage, holding her steady while proceeding down the aisle.

Carey thanked her hubby in her speech, but it was amusing when she thanked him "...especially for helping me with this dress!"

It was just this past Tuesday when Mariah Carey won the award for Breakthrough Actress at the Palm Springs International Film Festival awards for her role in "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire".

Her bizarre, other-worldy acceptance speech at that ceremony had some wondering if the diva was drunk.
