A 40-year-old man who worked for Volkswagen and Audi was seemingly suffering from extreme depression, brought on my work-related stress.
He decided that the best thing to do would be to kill himself. He was also a very organized man, going to great lengths to choose just the right location and ensuring that his last exit wouldn't disturb anyone else on the planet.
The man did some research on Google Earth to find an ideal spot in which to commit suicide. Then he printed pictures of that spot, which police later discovered in his automobile.
Bone Hill Rocks (above) was nearly 200 miles from the man's home in London.
He went there, parked, hooked up a plastic tube to his car's exhaust pipe and ran it inside of the vehicle, then waited for death.
He even went so far as to place warning signs on the car windows, alerting people not to come inside because of the fumes.
The coroner, understandably, named it a suicide. His official statement:
"I am satisfied that [name withheld] planned this with expertise. The notices he had prepared were designed to be found by others after his death."
How sad. Had the man used MapQuest, he may have never found his 'perfect suicide getaway.'
