Need proof that men are stubborn and don’t like to ask for directions?
An 81-year-old man in Australia who went out to get his morning newspaper ended up driving almost 400 miles after getting lost and taking a wrong turn onto a highway, according to local police. Eric Steward eventually stopped and asked for directions after driving for nine hours. Nine hours!
I don’t know about you, but if I step out to get a newspaper, I’m getting a little suspicious after the first 30 minutes or so have gone by.
Steward says he made a wrong turn and just kept on going.
“I just went out on the road to have a drive, a nice peaceful drive,” he said, adding that he doesn’t need a GPS as he’s only been lost once. What a doozy of a second attempt!
Steward, who had no idea where he was, pulled over and went up to a policeman at a gas station and asked for help.
“This little old man came up to me saying he was lost. He handed me his mobile and asked if I could speak to his wife,” said Victorian Police Senior Constable Clayton Smith.
Ah, that explains it. He was married. Maybe he was just after a little peace and quiet.
