Can you smell what Linda McMahon is cooking? The CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. announced that she will resign to run for Senate in her home state of Connecticut.
McMahon, a Republican, will attempt to defeat Democrat Christopher Dodd in 2010.
Linda McMahon announced her candidacy Tuesday, saying Washington is “out of control” and Dodd has “lost his way and our trust.” McMahon says she has the experience and strength to stand up to special interests and bring much-needed change to Washington.
Mrs. McMahon is often regarded as the brain of the WWE’s operation. She has served as CEO since 1997 and is highly respected in Wall Street circles. She and her husband, Vince McMahon, have been attempting to turn WWE into a more family-friendly experience.
Whether this makeover of the WWE has been motivated by her political aspirations is unknown, but it can’t hurt.
McMahon says she will use her own money to pay for most of her campaign and won’t accept donations from political action committees.
