Oh what a tangled web we weave, when we try to boost ratings with a controversial Top Ten List.

David Letterman raised eyebrows on Monday night when he ran a Late Show Top Ten list that poked a bit of fun at Sarah Palin and the Palin family.

Specifically, Letterman joked about Sarah Palin’s “slutty flight attendant look” and how one of Palin’s daughters was probably impregnated by New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez during a trip to Yankee Stadium.

The Palin family took the joke to be a dig at 14-year-old daughter Willow Palin, who had recently been to a Yankees game. David Letterman insisted during the show’s taping today, however, that he was joking about 18-year-old daughter Bristol.

Sarah Palin later denounced the jokes by Letterman as being “pathetic.”

“We were, as we often do, making jokes about people in the news and we made some jokes about Sarah Palin and her daughter [Bristol] and now they’re upset with me,” says Letterman on tonight’s show. “These are not jokes made about her 14-year-old daughter. I would never, never make jokes about raping or having sex of any description with a 14-year-old girl…. Am I guilty of poor taste? Yes. Did I suggest that it was okay for her 14-year-old daughter to be having promiscuous sex? No.”

Saying he hopes he’s “cleared part of this up,” David Letterman then extended an invitation to Sarah Palin to be a guest on the show.

Now, John Ziegler, of HowObamaGotElected.com, has chimed in after making a heated appearance with Contessa Brewer on MSNBC.

Ziegler is the creator of Media Malpractice: How Obama Got Elected, a film that cost him $200,000 to produce. In the film, Ziegler presents the opinion that the media’s bias toward Barack Obama and against right-wing Sarah Palin unfairly swayed the election for Mr. Obama.

The interview is actually a train-wreck that never really gets underway.  Here are the videos…
