Web 2.0 is dying a slow death, at least it seems that way.
Looking at Google Trends, the term “Web 2.0″ started being used at the end of 2004, when Tim O’Reilly organized the first edition of the Web 2.0 Conference.
Searches for the phrase started picking up in the middle of 2005 and continued increasing until the end of 2007. After that, the trend clearly started reversing. Today, it’s fallen back to the level it reached in early 2006.
If the trend continues, there should only be a handful of people left who scour search engines for “Web 2.0″ by 2011.
So what should we call it next? The number in the title is the value of “pi” in case you didn’t know.
Mmmmm……web pie.
