F My Life: It's Funny, It's True, Except When It Happens to You
Leona Lewis is still scared, in fact, she's frightened to go out after being slapped by a schizophrenic fan back in October.
The singer, who was literally punched in the face by Peter Kowalczyk as she was autographing copies of her autobiographical book "Dreams" on October 14, was "devastated" by the attack and lives in fear that she will become a victim once again.
In a statement read by a witness in a London court yesterday, she says, “Now I’m very frightened about going out in public.
“I don’t know where the next attack will come from and if this will be more serious than what has happened.”
Lewis, 24, suffered swelling to her face and whiplash after Kowalczyk, 29, who has mental issues, attacked her at the Waterstone’s book store in London.
Kowalczyk appeared in court yesterday and admitted assault. He was then sentenced by the judges.
He told the court that he went off his medication the week before the attack. Magistrates then ordered him to stay in hospital indefinitely under the Mental Health Act.
District Judge Howard Riddle told him, “This is what happens when you don’t take your medication. A woman is now devastated.”
According to his father, the man watched the British reality show The X Factor, which Leona Lewis won in 2006, and was jealous of her success.
