Bret Michaels said on the Early Show today that he is NOT engaged to Kristi Lynn Gibson, the mother of his two daughters and his girlfriend of 16 years.
“No. We are not engaged yet. We’re a work in progress,” Bret said.

As for the ring that has been spotted on Kristi’s finger, the Poison frontman says it’s “a promise ring…a friendship ring, with benefits. That’s what we call it.”
The news comes on the heels of a scary time in Bret’s life, where he literally cheated death after suffering a life-threatening brain hemorrhage.
“Bret felt like now was the time because Kristi has been through so much with Bret and has been by his side every step of the way. He’s woken up. He now knows he wants to be a husband. Kristi is thrilled that they will be getting married.”
Hopefully, Bret will pop the big question soon, but nothing is yet set in stone.
