If you read our earlier post, we predicted, based on the volume of Google searches after each episode, that Adam Lambert would win American Idol Season 8.

I truly thought he would would run away with it.

Bill Tancer at HitWise, agreed with me. I also mentioned that I had read his book, Click, and thought he was spot on in predicting that Lambert would win.

So what happened?

I have no idea. One thing is certain...Kris Allen is your American Idol Season 8 winner.

Were the result "fixed"? One blogger seems to think so...

Earlier in the year Idol has had rumours of the fact that this show was fixed. They squashed these rumours by trying to eliminate who the top 4 were supposed to be and replace it with a wild card (Kris Allen) who was not supposed to be there to begin with.

In the end my source says "The votes may say Adam, but the title will go to Kris."

Interesting theory. Really, based on the data, it's the only one that makes sense. They said that a record number of votes were cast this year, though, which is amazing. I'm not whining or making excuses for why my prediction bombed. Clearly, I was wrong.

I plan on trying to reach Bill Tancer about this to see where our theories went wrong. Stay tuned.
