ken oberKen Ober, who was the host of the ’80s MTV game show “Remote Control,” has died. He was 52 years of age.

Ober’s agent, Lee Kernis, has said that the co-producer of “Mind of Mencia” was found dead on Sunday in his home in Santa Monica. He adds that Ober was suffering from headaches and other flu-like symptoms on Saturday but, as of now, the cause of his death is uncertain.

Ober spent five years hosting “Remote Control” starting back in 1987. The show was the first non-music programming featured by MTV.  Set up in his “mother’s basement,” the set had a rec room feel, with barcaloungers, sunburst clocks and retro light fixtures dangling over contestants heads. The show also saw early appearances from modern-day celebs like Adam Sandler and Denis Leary.

Ober, whose real name is Ken Oberding, is survived by his parents and a brother.
