Ah, baseball. The nation’s passtime.
No doubt it can be a little slow at times, though. Just ask Keith Hernandez.
The New York Mets announcer and five-time All Star was caught sleeping on camera Saturday after the game went into extra innings. Someone else in the booth had to tap him on the shoulder to wake him up.
Hernandez isn’t the only guy sleeping on the job these days. Rumor has it Seattle Mariners outfielder Ken Griffey, Jr. missed an opportunity to enter a ball game last week as a pinch-hitter because he was dozing in the team’s clubhouse.
“He was asleep in the clubhouse,” one player was quoted as saying “He’d gone back about the fifth inning to get a jacket and didn’t come back. I went back in about the seventh inning — and he was in his chair, sound asleep.”
