F My Life: It's Funny, It's True, Except When It Happens to You

kate winslet Kate Winslet Wins LawsuitKate Winslet has won a lawsuit involving Associated Newspapers after the Daily Mail published an article stating that she lied about her exercise program.

Winslet, who didn't attend the hearing, said that the article was "simply not true."

"I strongly believe that women should be encouraged to accept themselves as they are, so to suggest that I was lying was an unacceptable accusation of hypocrisy." she said in a prepared statement.

"I was particularly upset to be accused of lying about my exercise regime and felt that I had a responsibility to request an apology..." she continued.

Kate Winslet, 34, has been known for her down-to-earth attitude regarding weight.

"In our house, we don't talk about weight, we don't talk about body image" she stated in 2006 and was irate when a picture of her was changed for GQ cover back in 2003. In that photo, her legs were made thinner and her stomach flatter.

Winslet, however, had been accused of lying by the Daily Mail who wrote an article called "Should Kate Winslet win an Oscar for the world's most irritating actress?"

In that article were pictures of the actress in several film roles where she appeared naked along with an accusation that she was lying about her workout regime.

Kate Winslet accepted her settlement of £25,000 damages (about $40,000 U.S.) including legal fees.
