F My Life: It's Funny, It's True, Except When It Happens to You
Kaspersky Lab, a huge antivirus software company (of all things), has been hacked according to the Register. That seems to be the conclusion based on evidence posted on a blog yesterday.
The hacker seemingly used a fairly simple SQL injection attack that gave access to a database containing “users, activation codes, lists of bugs, admins, shop, etc.” Dan Goodin at the Register says that this kind of attack has happened a few dozen times at Kaspersky since the year 2000.
Kaspersky’s website claims to protect in excess of 250 million users worldwide. The company was founded in 1997.
The company often warns users of internet-related dangers, in this release, it notes that one in every 50 Internet sites is infected with malicious code.
If you would like to protect your PC from these dangers, we strongly recommend that you run a scan with PC Bug Doctor.
