John Edwards 201110The judge in the John Edwards trial has just declared a mistrial on the five remaining charges.

Moments ago, the jury sent a note to the judge indicating that it was deadlocked.

Earlier today, that same jury found Edwards not guilty on Count 3 of the indictment. That charge pertains specifically to more than $700,000 in donations Rachel “Bunny” Mellon gave Edwards to allegedly cover up an extramarital affair and illegitimate child.

Now, the jury has revealed that it is deadlocked on the 5 remaining charges and Judge Catherine Eagles has declared a mistrial on those charges.

The jury began deliberations on May 18 after a month of testimony.
