John Edwards has a lot on his plate, have been charged with six felony and misdemeanor counts for using nearly $1 million from supporters to keep his pregnant mistress under wraps during the 2008 presidential election.
If you were hoping to see him have his day in court, you’ll have to wait a bit longer.
Yesterday, a federal judge delayed Edwards’ trial on alleged campaign finance violations because the two-time Democratic presidential candidate is suffering from a heart condition.
The trial was initially set to begin on January 30, but it’s now been postponed until at least March 26. No new trial date has officially been set.
Judge Catherine Eagles said she’d received letters from two cardiologists stating that they have scheduled a medical procedure for Edwards next month and that a trial at this point would “reduce the chance for success.”
The former senator from North Carolina is currently taking medication for the heart condition, according to the doctors. He’s also been prohibited from driving.
