Want to create a viral video hit? Here’s the recipe, it seems.
Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake did a little duet together on NBC’s Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last night and did a medley of rap hits, and the clip is spreading around the internet like wildfire.
Just take a look at all the songs they managed to touch on in the video below:
Sugarhill Gang – “Rapper’s Delight”
Run DMC – “Peter Piper”
Beastie Boys – “Paul Revere”
A Tribe Called Quest – “Award Tour”
Digital Underground – “Humpty Dance”
Snoop Doggy Dogg – “Ain’t Nutt’n But G Thang”
2Pac – “California Love”
Notorious B.I.G. – “Juicy”
The Roots – “The Seed (2.0)”
Eminem – “My Name Is”
Missy Elliott – “Work It”
Soulja Boy – “Crank That”
T.I. ft. Rihanna – “Live Your Life”
Kanye West ft. Jamie Foxx – “Gold Digger”
Jay-Z ft. Alicia Keys – “Empire State of Mind”
There was a ton of practicing involved with the number, although it looks like it was a lot of fun. Fallon, 36, says he’s surprised by how well-received the skit was.
“We never know what’s going to viral or get picked up, and this one’s beyond what we thought it would do. The thing that makes our show kind of different is that we embrace hip-hop. We’re that generation where hip-hop is what we grew on. You know I really needed to practice. You know I can’t rap. I was in my apartment till 2 in the morning the night before doing Soulja Boy and my wife was like, ‘You’re crazy!’”
