Fox Broadcasting and Burger King have both apologized for what has been called an "inappropriate" cartoon bit during Fox NFL Sunday that implied Jessica Simpson, ex-girlfriend of Tony Romo, was fat.
Burger King was the sponsor of the cartoon.
In controversial cartoon, cartoon versions of Marion Barber and Jason Witten get in a few cheap shots Simpson's expense:
Barber: "I still can't believe Tony dated Jesscia Simpson, even after she blew up bigger than Flozell Adams."
Witten: "Unlike Tony, at least Jessica comes up big when it counts."
Fox has issued an apology which states:
"Burger King did not have any editorial input in the creation of the animation that ran last Sunday, and no one from Burger King Corp., approved it before it aired.
"Upon reflection, our poor attempt at humor was insensitive, and we deeply apologize to anyone who might have been offended."
Romo and Simpson broke up over the summer after dating for almost two years.
