Jennifer Lyon, a contestant on Survivor: Palau, has died at the age of 37.
Lyon was diagnosed with stage-three breast cancer shortly after she wrapped shooting on the CBS reality show, on which she managed to place fourth. Tom Westman, a firefighter, won that iteration of the show back in 2005.
Lyon died on Tuesday night at her home in Oregon.
Despite her illness, she still managed to host many fundraisers for breast cancer research. Most recently, she opened a Christmas tree lot with proceeds designated to her cause.
On her website, she had a message for her fans:
“Thank you so much to everyone for sending their encouragement and prayers. It means so much to me and every single one is appreciated. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.”
