Singer and actress Jennifer Hudson has gave birth to her first child on Monday night, a baby boy named David Daniel Otunga Jr, her publicist said Tuesday.
The baby weighed in at a healthy seven pounds, 14 ounces.
Hudson, 27, suffered both triumph and tragedy in the last 12 months winning a Grammy award four months after the murders in her Chicago home town of her mother, brother and nephew.
In May, Jennifer Hudson celebrated her pregnancy with a baby shower in downtown Chicago.
The Oscar-winning star of "Dreamgirls" has been engaged for almost a year to actor David Otunga.
"The baby is beautiful and perfect," said Hudson's publicist Lisa Kasteler. "His parents are ecstatic."
