Orlando shooting suspect Jason Rodriguez, 40, was arrested just after 2 p.m. EST at his mother's apartment.
Just one day after another deadly shooting at a Texas military base, Rodriguez killed one person and wounded five others in a shooting spree at Orlando's Gateway Center.
He is believed to be a former employee of Reynolds Smith & Hills, an architectural engineering firm, located on the eighth floor.
"They left me to rot,'' he said to reporters after he was arrested.
When asked if he was referring to his former employer, he replied:
"No. No. I'm angry."
Jason Rodriguez was laid off from Reynolds Smith & Hills about a year and a half ago. He performed architectural work, said Renato Gonzalez, a manager with the firm.
"I know that we was not very happy with the layoff," Gonzalez said, who also stated that Rodriguez had made some disgruntled comments when he left the company.
"He took it a little worse than most people."
Reynolds Smith & Hills has 11 offices across Florida, including in DeLand, Merritt Island and Tampa.
Records show that Jason Rodriguez had filed for bankruptcy in Orlando in September.
