F My Life: It's Funny, It's True, Except When It Happens to You
The divorce case of Dodgers owner Frank McCourt and wife Jamie McCourt took an ugly turn on Wednesday morning when a huge pile of documents were delivered to the Los Angeles Superior Court before a hearing.
In those documents, Frank details the trip the Jamie took with her bodyguard, Jeff Fuller. The two first went to Israel then made a stop in France. Who footed the bill for the trip? The Dodgers.
Jamie McCourt's lawyers have decided not to comment on the documents until they have had an opportunity to read through them.
Superior Court Commissioner Scott Jordan has now delayed the hearing until November 5th due to the sheer volume of the information that has just been presented.
The new papers also allege that there was some insubordination on the part of Jamie McCourt, which played a part in Frank firing her from her chief executive position last week.
Frank McCourt's actions today would seem to be a defensive maneuver done in response to a filing on Tuesday by Jamie McCourt. In that filing, Mrs. McCourt demanded, among other things, that she be reinstated to her executive position with the club.
She is also seeking $487,634 per month in spousal support. That number was decreased to $320,967 if she is reinstated.
In the documents, which consist of more than 100 pages, Jamie demands her CEO job back, along with an enormous pile of other perks, including:
- travel by private jet
- 5 star hotel accommodations
- travel expenses - Unlimited
- business dinners 5 nights per week
- business lunches 5 days per week
- parking spots at Dodger Stadium
- making Dodger Legends available for events without charge
- provision of Dodger autographed items as requested for use in business and charitable activities
- hair and makeup for Dodger events
- access to the owner's suite for Dodger home games and non-baseball events at the stadium
- Tickets to All-Star games and playoff games -- even if the Dodgers aren't playing
- a pass to all National League games
In the documents, Jamie includes the Los Angeles Dodgers in the assets that need to be considered as part of the divorce hearing and mentions that the entire McCourt estate at over $1 billion. Jamie also lists the separation date as being July 6, 2009.
