LeAnn Rimes‘ husband Deane Sheremet has officially filed for divorce, according to court documents.
The couple announced that they were going to divorce back in September but no paperwork had yet been filed.
“After much thoughtful mutual consideration, Deane and I have agreed to move forward with dissolving our marriage,” the country star announced on her website in September. “This decision was amicable and we remain committed and caring friends with great admiration for one another.”
Sheremet filed the necessary paperwork in L.A. on Thursday.
The couple exchanged voes back in February of 2002. They have no children together.
The filing cites “irreconcilable differences” for the breakup. The couple split following reports about the country singer’s extramarital affair with “Northern Lights” costar Eddie Cibrian. Since separating in September, Rimes and Cibrian are said to be dating. Cibrian also filed for divorce from his wife, Brandi Glanville, in August.
Sheremet is seeking spousal support and to have his attorney’s fees paid by Rimes. The couple have apparently already worked out how to divide their property.
