Well, one reader was quick to point out that there’s more than one holiday on this January 21st. Not only is it Squirrel Appreciation Day (try to contain your excitement), but it’s also National Hug Day!
On January 21st, 1986, National Hug Day (A.K.A. National Hugging Day) was founded in the U.S.A. Starting in Caro, Michigan, and has since spread to Canada, England, Australia, and Germany.
It has spread around the world and is called by many names – Hug Day, World Hug Day, Send a Hug Day, International Hug Day, and even Hug a Bear Day (be careful with that last one!).
So aside from the obvious act of hugging someone as a way to celebrate, what else can you do?
Well, there are some National Hug Day coloring pages, some free hug e-cards, and even a way to send a surprise e-mail hug.
