We know that the world’s fattest cat recently passed away, but this cat may soon have his own place in the history books.
Rupert, who weighs in at an astounding 20 pounds, is only half-grown and is set to put on even more weight.
A three-time cat of the year in his native Australia, Rupert is said by cat judges to be among the largest Maine coon domestic cats they’ve ever laid eyes on.
Cat competition judge Lesley Morgan Blythe said: “He’s a mega, monster cat and still yet to fully fill out.
“He’s bigger than the biggest maine coon I’ve seen – and he’s probably only half grown at two.”
Rupert’s owner, Kyra Foster, said: “He is particularly majestic looking with his long hair adding to his magnificent, wild look.
“People are blown away when they come to him.”
Native to Maine, these cats are distinctive for their long, heavily-furred tails, and can grow to over 40 inches from nose to tail.
