Rumors are circulating that Prime View International, the company that makes electrophoretic displays for the Amazon Kindle 2, is working on a larger-sized, touchscreen version.
Could this be the rumored "Student's Kindle" or even a Kindle 3? It's too soon to tell.
We DO know that the Kindle 2 is selling like hotcakes and making a boatload of cash for Amazon.
New Kindle 2 Competitor
In fact, the Kindle 2 is making SO much money for Amazon that Hearst Corp. is getting set to launch an electronic reader that it hopes can do for periodicals what Amazon's Kindle is doing for books.
According to industry insiders, Hearst, which publishes magazines ranging from Cosmopolitan to Esquire and newspapers including the financially imperiled San Francisco Chronicle, has come up with a wireless e-reader with a larger screen, perfect for the reading and advertising needs of newspapers and magazines.
The device is likely to appear on shelves some time this year.
