Earlier today, Apple finally unveiled the iPad.
So now that we know what it is, the question on the minds of many people is, “How much is the iPad?”
The is really aggressive and quite an impressive statement from Apple. You can expect to pay about $499 for the base 16GB version, which be able to display e-books, web content, movies, etc.
Many analysts say that the iPad price and functionality puts it right in between an iPhone and a Mac laptop.
“The price is a gigantic win. The non-3G model at $US499 is very surprising,” says Michael Yoshikami, an analyst with YCMNet Advisors.
Brian Marshall, an analyst at Broadpoint Amtech, agrees that the iPad price is a bargain.
“Pricing is very aggressive, so it’s pretty positive from a mass adoption perspective. It was about $200 lower than what I was expecting,” he said.
Steve Jobs said he wants to get the iPad in as many hands as possible. It will ship in 60 days as a WiFi device. Thirty days later it will ship with 3G capability. AT&T will provide the 3G coverage.
Jobs calls it, “Our most advanced technology in a magical, revolutionary device at an unbelievable price.”
