It doesn’t seem to have anything to do with deep sea cables this time, but a major internet outage is plaguing the country at this hour.
A serious problem with Level 3 Communications is affecting sites like Amazon, CNN, ESPN, and more. Some of the affected websites are now writing blog posts to attempt to explain the outages to their users.
AT&T is also experiencing problems that are likely related to the Level 3 issues. Some of these issues are being resolved as we speak so hopefully, by the time you read this, many sites will be back online.
The main epicenters of the crisis seem to be Washington DC, Chicago, Spain, and Germany. All issues should be resolved by early evening.
