Insane Clown Posse

Pop quiz, hot shot.  The members of Insane Clown Posse are:

A. Violent individuals
B. Atheists
C. Evangelical Christians

If you guessed “C”, you hit the jackpot. Tell them what they’ve won, Johnny.

Yep, the duo are Evangelical Christians and they’ve been keeping their faith on the DL for two decades.  In an interview with The Guardian UK, they say they lured in their cult followers with violent, shocking lyrics, then slowly began dropping the God-hammer on them (see “Miracles” and “Thy Unveiling“).

Some favorite quotes from the interview:

“Have you ever stood next to an elephant, my friend?” asks Violent J. “A fucking elephant is a miracle. If people can’t see a fucking miracle in a fucking elephant, then life must suck for them, because an elephant is a fucking miracle. So is a giraffe.”

…and another:

“Gravity’s cool,” Violent J says, “but not as cool as magnets.”

Violent J (real name: Joseph Bruce) says releasing the song “Thy Unveiling” and coming clean about his faith was the most exciting moment of his life.

“It felt so good, brother. I was fucking in heaven. Let me tell you something: I would go running at night, and my feet wouldn’t even touch the ground. I had my headphones on, I’d be listening to Thy Unveiling, and I’d be in such a zone that my feet wouldn’t even be touching the ground. I’d be literally levitating.”

Also in the interview, Shaggy 2 Dope (real name: Joseph Utsler) adds that the criticism the band receives upsets him.

“I get anxiety and shit a lot,” he says. “And reading that stuff people write about us… It hurts.”

So what do you think of ICP’s recent revelation?  If you’re a Juggalo, does it affect whether or not you will still follow this dynamic duo?
