Ines Sainz

The NFL is investigating how Ines Sainz, a female television reporter, was treated by the New York Jets at a practice on Saturday.

Sainz is a reporter for Mexico’s TV Azteca and, while doing a piece on quarterback Mark Sanchez, the sexy news gal allegedly had footballs thrown in her direction by Jets’ defensive coach Dennis Thurman and was taunted by players in the team’s locker room.

Kris Jenkins reportedly said, “Don’t let her act like she doesn’t know English. She speaks English.”

NFL spokesperson Greg Aiello says that the league and Jets officials began digging deeper into the story when they were made aware of it on Saturday.

Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum had a telephone conversation with Joanne Gerstner, a board member of the Association for Women in Sports Media, on Sunday to discuss the situation further.  The two sides were attempting to schedule an educational session with the players, said Jets spokesperson Bruce Speight.

Speight says that he also addressed the matter at the team meeting on Sunday in advance of the Jets’ season opener against the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football.

The Jets have issued a statement indicating that owner Woody Johnson spoke with Sainz on Sunday to discuss the incident.

The controversy seems to stem from the outfit that Sainz wore while conducting her interview with Sanchez.  Sainz has posed as a bikini model in the past and has curves that would put Kim Kardashian to shame.

Over the weekend, Ines tweeted photos of the clothes that she wore while in the Jets’ camp, defending her clothing choice as professional.

“Some media claim that I was improperly dressed for the Jets! I was exactly like that!” she wrote.

Sainz complained that she was “bombarded with catcalls and boorish antics” at the Jets facility. She tweeted that she had to “cover my ears.”

“I’m dying of embarrassment!”

Check out the photo of her outfit that she posted below.  What do you think?  Was she appropriately dressed for an NFL interview?
