Hurricane Bill attained hurricane force on Monday morning in the Atlantic Ocean and is now sitting approximately 1,160 miles to the east of the Lesser Antilles. Hurricane Bill now has winds of almost 75 miles per hour.
The storm is set to pass through the open Atlantic over the next several days while continuing to strengthen. The National Weather Service forecasts that Bill could be a major hurricane, hitting category three or greater by the middle of this week.
The current Hurricane Bill projected path calls for the storm to miss the Leeward Islands and Puerto Rico. These locations should still keep tabs on the storm’s track, however, over the next few days due to the irregular movement of these hurricanes.
There is also a good possibility that heavy surf may also affect the East Coast of the United States by this coming weekend should Hurricane Bill continue to follow its current projected path.
