The Oakland Raiders have promoted offensive coordinator Hue Jackson to the vacant head coach position. Jackson now becomes the team’s sixth head coach since 2003.
The team made the announcement on Monday. Jackson was thought to be the lead candidate for the job as soon as the Raiders announced back on January 4th that they wouldn’t pick up the option on Tom Cable‘s contract. This is Jackson’s first head coaching position.
“The fire in Hue will set a flame that will burn for a long time in the hearts and minds of the Raider football team and the Raider Nation,” owner Al Davis said in a statement.
