Google has just made it a little easier to get around town using public transportation. Transit Layer has launched on Google Maps in more than 50 cities around the world.
To switch on the layer go to the More button and select the Transit tab:

The Transit Layer is a part of Google Transit. The main Google Transit product aims to provide full schedule information and routing. The goal of Transit Layer is to overlay lines visually on Google Maps.
It’s basically a virtual metro map on top of Google Maps, even when itinerary planning is unavailable, you can at least see the public transit options that are available. It’s a pretty nifty trick, if you ask me.
