Google Maps has just made the process of getting directions on your BlackBerry, Nokia, G1 or iPhone even easier...but only if you have downloaded the Maps client.

Up until now, if you entered a business name on the Maps client as an end-point, Google might not have recognized it.

According to today's announcement:

Until today, if you tried to get directions and entered a business name, “starbucks” for example, as the end or start point, Google Maps for mobile did not understand that you meant Starbucks the business. Rather, Google Maps for mobile would search for an address with “starbucks” in it.

Now it looks like certain business names will be recognized (hopefully) and you will be taken to the nearest location...at least in the case of a franchise or chain.

Nice trick, Google!
