From Waterworld to Terminator. Google plans to launch Terminator-like glasses with a heads-up display by the end of 2012, according to Mashable.
The glasses, which previously were rumored to have a front-facing camera and a voice input interface, will be Android-based, according to sources.
The Google HUD glasses feature a display, located just inches from the user’s eye, streaming real-time data about your current location and surrounding, similar to the various augmented-reality applications currently available on many smartphones.
The data will be fetched and retrieved via a 3G/4G data connection and the glasses will fetch information about your surroundings via GPS and several sensors.
The new glasses will cost just about as much as cutting-edge smartphones, say various sources. That means it’s likely they’ll be in the $250 – $600 range. Clearly, it’s an indication that Google wants these available to the mass markets.
These look like a dream come true for most tech-heads.
