internet privacy Google Docs Breach Leads to FTC Investigation

I really hate to say, "I told you so", but I knew that the Google Docs breach last week would be bad news for Google eventually.

Yesterday, The Electronic Privacy Information Center, A.K.A. EPIC, requested that the Federal Trade Commission launch an investigation into the privacy and security measures of several Google services, including Gmail, Google Docs and several others.

The complaint asks the FTC to investigate Google’s safety precautions for online "cloud"-based services.  It also seeks to hold Google responsible for all security breaches that may occur within the internet-based services.

EPIC even wants the FTC stop Google from providing any cloud-based services, including Gmail, until it improves its safety measures.

This is one investigation that should be VERY interesting.  It could have implications far beyond this little Google slip-up.
