Sometimes it’s interesting to look at tech companies’ profits in a slightly different way. Sure, we know all about those quarterly press releases reporting quarterly profit (or loss), but how much are these companies making “per head”?
In 2008, Google made $209,624 in profit per employee, according to Pingdom. This is more than any of the other large tech companies they reviewed, including Microsoft, Apple, Intel and IBM.
Just for comparison’s sake, here are some similar “profit per head” figures from other tech companies:
- Just over $30k: IBM, Yahoo, Amazon and Dell.
- Around $64k: Oracle and Intel.
- Around $120k: Adobe and Cisco.
If you were to simply look at overall profit, then Microsoft leads the pack, but Google seems to be doing a great job of trimming expenses and overhead and running a very profitable operation.
