For a few brief minutes, I saw the title: “New in Labs: Multiple Inboxes”.
“Yes!”, I thought. Finally – a way to be logged into multiple Gmail accounts at once.
Not so fast. Sadly, that’s not what this message was about, although it’s still somewhat interesting.
Google has really been busy with Gmail announcements lately and the updates keep on coming.
Gmail will now let you have multiple inboxes open. Given that Google constantly mangles the difference between tags and folders, “inbox” is a misleading word. You really can’t view a separate account, but you CAN view separate tag pages at the same time.
The new feature is available as an option in Gmail labs. Once you turn it on, you can set up what “inboxes” you want to appear in Gmail next to your regular mail.
Not bad, but overall, I give it a “Meh”.
