Here we go. Could we possibly, just for once, have a tragedy or a disaster without someone calling it an “act of God” or “divine punishment”?

The latest talking head who’s depriving a village somewhere of an idiot is talk show host Glenn Beck, who suggested that God may have caused the devastating 9.0-magnitude earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

Speaking on his radio show Monday (his first day back from vacation), Beck said, “I’m not saying God is, you know, causing earthquakes,” before adding, “I’m not not saying that either.”

He then that whatever you choose to call it, “there’s a message being sent. And that is, ‘Hey, you know that stuff we’re doing? Not really working out real well. Maybe we should stop doing some of it.’ I’m just saying.”

Thank you, Glenn Beck, for that pearl of wisdom.

This kind of thing seems to be happening all the time now. As you may recall, the governor of Tokyo recently referred to the earthquake and tsunami as “divine punishment”. He later apologized for that statement.

And who could forget everyone’s favorite wing-nut Fred Phelps thanking God for the Arizona shooting?

Here’s a news flash, folks. Sometimes, bad things just happen. Video below.
