Something smells fishy. Maybe it’s that giant bluefin tuna.
The enormous fish snagged 16.3 million yen ($177,000) in an auction held today at largest wholesale fish market in the world, located in Japan.
The tuna weighed 513 pounds and was the most expensive fish sold since 2001, when a 440-pound tuna sold for a world record 20.2 million yen ($220,000) at Tsukiji Market in Tokyo.
The monstrous tuna was bought and shared by the owners of two Japanese sushi restaurants and one Hong Kong-based sushi joint.
Caught off the coast of northern Japan, the big tuna was among 570 put up for auction on Tuesday.
