George Zimmerman is now in custody and is about to be charged with second degree murder in the killing of Trayvon Martin.
The neighborhood watch volunteer killed the unarmed teen as he was walking through his gated community in Florida on February 26.
Zimmerman surrendered to authorities in Florida this afternoon, according to attorney Mark O’Mara.
Special prosecutor Angela Corey said earlier today that she was going to charge Zimmerman in the case, and now she’s getting ready to do just that.
Earlier today, Attorney General Eric Holder said that the United States Department of Justice would take “appropriate action” if it turned out Zimmerman was guilty of a crime.
Yesterday, Zimmerman’s legal team dropped his case saying that they hadn’t been able to reach their client in several days.
Corey is about to hold a live press conference that’s scheduled to begin shortly.
