F My Life: It's Funny, It's True, Except When It Happens to You

A terrible tragedy tonight in the world of baseball, Gabrielle Dawn Schoeneweis, wife of Diamondbacks relief pitcher Scott Schoeneweis, was found dead at the couple's home in Fountain Hills, Arizona on Wednesday afternoon.

The Schoeneweis' 14-year-old daughter notified police upon discovering her 39-year-old mother laying on the floor in her parents' bedroom. When police officers arrived, Gabrielle Dawn Schoeneweis was pronounced dead. There is no cause of death at this point.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are currently right in the middle of a doubleheader in Miami, Florida vs. the Marlins. Several Arizona players are now wearing Scott Schoeneweis' number on their caps.  Scott Schoeneweis is on his way back to Arizona. The couple has four children.

Derrick Hall, Arizona Diamondbacks President and CEO, said the franchise is both shocked and saddened by the unexpected passing Gabrielle Dawn Schoeneweis.

“This is a tragedy for the Schoeneweis family who we naturally consider members of our family. We are here to support Scott in any way during this traumatic period in his life,” Hall said in a released statement.
