Travis NicolaysenHe may be on the run from the law, but that’s not stopping Travis Nicolaysen from updating Facebook every now and then.

The fugitive recently updated his status, telling friends that, aside from being wanted by the police, he is doing fine, thank you very much.

A concerned friend posted on his Facebook profile: “Cops all over you,” on his first day on the run, but Nicolaysen quickly responded the next day, saying: “ya got away thanks bro.”

The 26-year-old has been fleeing from the law since two foot chases on Wednesday of last week and a police dragnet that included dog tracking through a Port Angeles, Washington neighborhood.

The police dogs only managed to find the blue bandanna that Nicolaysen had been wearing.

“In a smaller community, it’s harder to disappear and be anonymous,” said one officer. “We’re hoping people who know him call police.”

Other friends also offered their two cents on Nicolaysen’s Facebook page.

One friend told him to be careful. Another urged him to give up and think about his kids (his Facebook page shows a photo of him with two toddlers).

He does have priors, having been convicted of five felonies – and police are watching his Facebook page.

“We’re used to pinging databases and sources of information,” an officer said. “It’s normal for us to look at Facebook accounts.”

Nicolaysen is wanted by the Washington State Department of Corrections for failing to report in with his community corrections officer since January.

He was also accused of assaulting his girlfriend on March 28.  Yes, Nicolaysen went on Facebook on Saturday to update his relationship status to “single.”

Travis Nicolaysen Facebook

Teri Newell of Port Angeles says she’s Nicolaysen’s aunt and she seems to find all of this rather amusing.

“I think it’s hilarious,” said Newell, who confirmed the Facebook account belonged to Nicolaysen.

“That’s my boy, Travis,” she said.

“Every single time he gets out of jail, he doesn’t check in,” said Newell. She said she doesn’t know where he is.

“If he’s smart, he’s hidden away, tucked away safe,” she said.
