Now that Cathy Cruz Marrero has made a stink about that CCTV video in which she falls into a mall fountain while texting, her own dirty secrets are starting to come to light.
It now looks like shorty after today’s appearance on ABC’s Good Morning America, Marrero was in court for a status hearing on charges of five felony counts, including theft by deception and receiving stolen property, according to ABC News.
Marrero, 49, was charged in October 2009 for allegedly using a credit card that belonged to one of her coworkers to make more than $5,000 in purchases at a local Target and Zales.
She will likely face sentencing at her next court date on April 21. Marrero is probably looking at about six months of house arrest and electronic monitoring.
Her probation ended in October.
On GMA this morning, Marrero said she is considering filing a lawsuit against the security team that circulated a video of her falling into a mall fountain while reading a text message on her cell phone. That video went viral on YouTube almost instantly.
It’s ironic that, had she not brought all this media attention upon herself, no one would probably even know (or care) about these charges.
