Mike FlanaganIt’s a sad day for those of us here in Baltimore as former Oriole and Cy Young winner Mike Flanagan was found dead on his property today at the age of 59.

Authorities found Flanagan’s body just before 4:30 p.m. EDT this afternoon outside of his Monkton home in northern Baltimore County.

Flanagan was a member of the 1983 World Series championship team, and, more recently, served as a front office executive and TV broadcaster for MASN.

In parts of 18 seasons, Flanagan went 167-143 with a 3.90 ERA. He also pitched for the Toronto Blue Jays from 1987-90.

In 1979, he went 23-9 with a 3.08 ERA to win the American League Cy Young.

Flanagan’s body was found along a trail leading to a barn.

There has been no official word as to a cause of death, but authorities are calling it a “suspicious death.”
