A 38-year-old former beauty pageant winner died over the weekend due to complications from having plastic surgery on her buttocks.
Solange Magnano, the 1994 Miss Argentina winner and mother to 8-year-old twins, died of pulmonary embolism on Sunday, just three days after having gluteoplasty, a procedure that involves placing implants into the buttocks to improve firmness, at a clinic in Buenos Aires.
Officials report that the injected liquid accidentally went into her lungs and brain. She had been in critical condition for three days.
Her burial aired on television on Monday in Argentina.
In the past 5 years, the number of people seeking cosmetic surgery in Argentina has soared by 60 percent, to around 50,000.
